FINA World Short Course Championships: Ranomi Kromowidjojo Leads Way in 50 Free Semis

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 18. THE Netherlands' Ranomi Kromowidjojo cleared 24 seconds in the women's 50 free semis to lead the way at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Kromowidjojo hit the wall in 23.71, just shy of her top-ranked time of 23.58 set at the European Short Course Championships last month. Bahamas' Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace qualified second in 24.08, while China's Li Zhesi earned third in 24.09. Li's effort beat her Chinese record of 24.15 from earlier in the meet.

The Netherlands' Hinkelien Schreuder (24.15), USA's Jessica Hardy (24.17), Germany's Dorothea Brandt (24.27), Estonia's Triin Aljand (24.32) and Canada's Victoria Poon (24.40) made their way into the finale as well.
