Boston University vs. Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, New York, November 12. THE Stony Brook swimming and diving teams came up short in a dual meet against Boston University on Friday, as the women's team fell by a 144-96 score and the men's squad fell by a count of 141-90. Junior Sean Conway (Oakdale, N.Y.) earned two individual victories on the day to lead the Seawolves.

Conway swam to a win in the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 21.99 to edge BU's Matthew Rickett by one-tenth of a second. The junior then prevailed in the 100 freestyle in 47.44, representing the fastest 100 free time of the season for the Stony Brook men's team. Conway was also victorious as a member of the 400 freestyle relay team, joining junior Ed McIntyre (Laurel, N.Y.), senior Lukasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland) and freshman Derek Woodhead (Stony Brook, N.Y.) for a time of 3:13.02, another season record for the men.

Ochmanski set a third season record when he completed the 200 freestyle in 1:43.70 to earn the men's team a fourth victory on the day.

On the women's side, freshman Renee Deschenes (Winnipeg, Manitoba) continued her early-season success with a win in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:04.67. Fellow freshman Veronica Reid (Duncan, British Columbia) added another victory in the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:25.49. The women's team gave Stony Brook two wins in the 400 freestyle relay on the day thanks to the quartet of sophomore Christie Bodden (Panama City, Panama), junior Kelsey Stranc (Chicago, Ill.), sophomore Andjelija Sreckovic (Jagodina, Serbia) and sophomore MaryKate Morcerf (Babylon, N.Y.), who posted a time of 3:41.69.

In diving action, junior Shanna Murphy (Chester, N.Y.) placed third in the three-meter diving competition, while senior Benjamin Kammerman (Binghamton, N.Y.) recorded a season-best score of 132 in the men's competition to grab second place.

The Seawolves will be back in action on December 3-5 for the ECAC Open Swimming and Diving Championships in East Meadow, N.Y.
