Bentley University men vs. Gordon College

WENHAM, Massachusetts, November 11. FRESHMAN Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) touched first in three events to lead Bentley University to a 122-70 win over Gordon College in men's college swimming Wednesday night at the Gordon Pool.

Sylvia recorded the meet's best times in the 50 yard freestyle (22.91 seconds), the 100 free (50.90) and the 100 individual medley (1:00.13).

Sylvia wasn't the only freshman to have a strong meet for the Falcons. Phillip Chan (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier HS) participated in two winning relays and had the best performance in the 50 breaststroke (28.98) and the 100 breast (1:05.24).

Sophomore George Go (Manila, Philippines) captured both the 50 and 100 backstroke events, with times of 26.93 and 58.25, respectively.

Other winners of individual events for the 2-0 Falcons were senior Chris Horan (Hanover/ Boston College HS) in the 200 free (1:54.38), sophomore Keron Brown (Elmsford, N.Y./Iona Prep) in the 100 butterfly (58.25), sophomore Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) in the 500 free (5:09.27) and sophomore Mike Culkin (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) in the 50 fly (26.66).

Champagne and Culkin were also part of both winning relays for the Falcons, as was senior Matt Cesaro (Avon, Conn./Avon HS).

Bentley has nine days off before hosting UMass-Dartmouth at 1 pm Nov. 20.
