Washington College men vs. Salisbury

SALISBURY, Maryland, November 11. HOST Salisbury University defeated visiting Washington College, 135-70, tonight in non-conference men's swimming action.

Junior Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) won two events for the Shoremen in the loss, taking the 200-meter individual medley in 2:22.84 and the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:10.30. Sophomore A.J. Feurer (Kingsville, MD/Archbishop Curley) won the 800-meter freestyle in 9:29.33.

Senior Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) was second in a pair of individual events for the Shoremen – the 200-meter freestyle in 2:06.68 and the 100-meter butterfly in 1:04.51. Junior Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven) added a second-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:04.92, while freshman Robert Mix (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) was second in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:24.28.

The win for Salisbury was the first for the Sea Gulls (2-1) over the Shoremen (0-2) since the two teams first met during the 1990-91 season, breaking a streak of 19 straight losses in the series.

The Shoremen return to action Friday with a 5:00 p.m. non-conference meet at St. Mary's.
