Wisconsin-Whitewater vs. Carroll

WHITEWATER, Wisconsin, October 22. THE UW-Whitewater men's swimming and diving team opened the 2010-11 season with a 148-68 victory over Carroll University Friday at the Williams Center Pool in Whitewater. The Warhawks won 11 of the 12 events they entered.

Andy Hanney collected two wins, one in the 100 yard freestyle (50.60), and another in the 1,000 yard freestyle (10:38.32). Bill Stenavich also posted two individual wins, winning the 50 yard freestyle (22.77) and the 100 yard butterfly (56.61), to go along with a relay team win in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:32.05). Marcus Genrich posted two individual wins and two relay wins. His individual wins were in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:02.81) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:05.63), while his team wins were in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:32.05) and the 200 yard medley relay (1:43.48).

Joining Stenavich and Genrich on the 200 yard freestyle relay team were Derek Uselman, who also won the 200 yard freestyle (1:50.10), and Jeff Kaletka. Joining Genrich on the 200 yard medley relay team were Landon Joiner, Nate Glover, and Adam Altenburg.
Other winners for the 'Hawks included Colton Gilmore in the 500 yard freestyle (5:05.25), Alex Mikolajewski in the 100 yard backstroke (59.18), and Mason Kohlhapp in one meter diving scoring 83.30 points.

The Warhawks will compete again on Saturday when they travel to Oshkosh for a 1:00 meet.

The women's swimming and diving team defeated Carroll University 153-58 Friday in Whitewater at the Williams Center Pool. The 'Hawks won 11 of 13 events in their first meet of the season.

Kaitlyn Kincade was the most productive Warhawk taking home three victories, two individual and one relay, while five other Warhawks won multiple events. Kincade was a winner in the 50 yard freestyle (26.34), the 100 yard freestyle (58.56), and the 200 yard medley relay (1:57.13). Megan Kohnke, Randi Osgood, Megan Roegner, Kristen Jahn, and Megan Kraft all won two events, one individual and one relay.

Other Warhawk winners were Lauren Lanphere in the 1,000 yard freestyle (11:17.91), Kaylyn Howley in the 100 yard backstroke (1:06.91), Katrina Denoyer in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:46.63), and Hannah Oates in the 200 yard medley relay.

UW-Whitewater also won both diving events. Molly McElligott won the one meter diving event with a score of 174.05, and Christina Staskewich won the three meter diving event with a score of 130.25.

UW-W is back in the pool on Saturday when they travel to UW-Oshkosh for a 1:00 pm meet.
