Austria’s Mirna Jukic Retires From Sport

VIENNA, Austria, September 25. OLYMPIC bronze medalist Mirna Jukic has decided to call it a career according to Krone.at.

Jukic, who won the bronze medal in the women's 100 breast at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, finished her career with a trio of bronze medals at World Championships (two long course, one short course). She dominated the breaststroke events in Europe with three gold medals in long course events at the European Championships as well as a pair of short course gold medals.

Jukic was born in Novi Sad, Serbia and grew up in Croatia until 1999 when her father moved his family, including world-class swimming brother Dinko Jukic, to Vienna, Austria. Mirna and Dinko elected to become Austrian citizens, while their parents remained Croatian.
