IRVINE, California, August 18. A pair of Aussies clocked the fastest time in the meet to start the sprint fly, but they happened to do it from separate heats at the Pan Pacific Championships.

Australia's Marieke Guehrer topped the A final with a time of 25.99 after teammate Yolane Kukla won the B final in 25.99. Kukla was swimming in the B heat due to the two-per-country rule that bumped her out of the top eight.

Kukla finished just off her personal best of 25.92 that ranked her fourth in the world this year, while Guehrer moved to fifth in the world as just the fifth swimmer under 26 second this year.

Australia finished with the three top times of the evening when Emily Seebohm placed second overall with a 26.08 to move to sixth in the world rankings.

USA's Christine Magnuson finished third in 26.33, while Japan's Yuka Kato earned fourth in 26.38 just off her national record of 26.34 from 1998.

Brazil's Gabriella Silva wound up fifth in 26.52, while USA's Jessica Hardy took sixth in 26.61. Hong Kong's Hannah Wilson placed seventh in 27.01, while Canada's Katerine Savard rounded out the championship heat in 27.16.
