Kentucky Senior Championships

LEXINGTON, Kentucky. March 19. THE Lakeside Seahawks dominated the Kentucky Short Course Yard Senior Championships by winning multiple events and sweeping the relays at the University of Kentucky's Lancaster Aquatic Center.

Mary Mittel, who is headed to Louisville in the fall, from the Lakeside Seahawks won four events individually including the 50 free (23.51), 200 free (1:51.42), 100 fly (54.77), and 100 back (55.38). Mittel's time in the 100 back the 15-18 record, previously held by Elaine Breeden.

Teammates Summer Stephens and Kelsey Buese also had multiple event wins of their own. Stephens won the 200 IM (2:04.67), 400 IM (4:21.82), and 200 fly (2:03.25). Buese swam to first in the 500 free (5:02.19) and 1650 free (17:16.93).

Lakeside swept the women's relays including the 200 free relay (1:38.83), 400 free relay (3:29.91), and 400-medley relay (3:49.88).

Devan Terry from Lakeside won four individual events, including the 100 breast (56.07), 200 breast (2:03.87), 100 fly (50.40), and 200 IM (1:51.65). Teammate Knox Anderson also had individual successes by winning the 500 free (4:40.67) and 1650 free (16:12.42).

Drew Cato from Cardinal Aquatics was another multiple event winner, winning a total of three events including the 50 free (21.35), 100 back (52.44), and 200 back (1:51.74).

Like the women, Lakeside swept the men's relays, including the 200 free relay (1:27.82), 400 free relay (3:10.52), and 400 medley relay (3:29.02).
