Indiana Senior Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana. March 17. CARMEL Swim Club walked away with the championship title for the 2010 Indiana Short Course Yard Senior Championships at the IU Natatorium.

Trish Regan from Carmel Swim Club (CSC) won four events individually including the 400 IM (4:16.12), 100 fly (55.49) 200 fly (2:00.80), and 200 free (1:50.94).

Megan Gallagher of MVA won three events including the 200 free (4:55.72), 1000 free (10:00.93), and 1650 free (16:51.40).

Other multiple winners included Kaitlin Flederbach of the Vipers Aquatic Team, Emma Schoettmer of Center Grove Aquatic Club, and Lacy Locke of CSC. Flederbach won the 50 free (23.47) and 100 free (50.89), Schoettmer won the 100 breast (1:03.03) which broke a 13 year old meet record and the 200 breast (2:14.47), and Locke won the 100 back (55.08) and 200 back (1:59.97).

CSC won three relays including the 400-medley relay (3:49.63), 400 free relay (3:30.43), and the 800 free relay (7:32.54) establishing a new meet record.

Kyle Whitaker from Duneland Swim Club won four events, swimming to wins in the 400 IM (3:43.73), 100 breast (55.69), 200 fly (1:44.56), and 200 free (1:36.17). Whitaker's time in the 400 IM established a new Indiana 17-18 record, which Whitaker previously held as well.

Also winning multiple events was Terry Peoples from Concord Swim Team, Tyler Fozkos of Duneland Swim Club, and Kyle House swimming unattached from Purdue. Peoples won the 1000 free (9:36.22) and 1650 free (16:03.23, Fozkos won the 50 free (20.72) and100 free (45.73), and House won the 100 back (49.96) and 100 fly (49.43).

The CSC won the 400 free relay (3:08.12) and 800 free relay (6:53.13) while SSC won the 400-medley relay (3:27.53).

Carmel Swim Club won the championships with 1,981 points, Duneland Swim Club came in second with 685.5 points, and Concord Swim Team came in third with 583 points.
