China Dominates 2010 Youth Olympic Games Diving Qualifying Meet

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, March 15. THE team of China dominated the Youth Olympic Games Diving Qualifying Event, organized in Guadalajara (MEX) on March 12-13, by winning three out of the four events on offer. In a competition for divers aged 16/17 years old, who will participate in August in the first edition of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore (SIN), Qiu Bo and Yanquan Zhang were the best in the men's 3m springboard and 10m platform respectively, while Jiao Lu won the women's 3m springboard. The only non-Chinese victory went to Malaysia's sensation Pandelela Rinong Pamg in the women's 10m platform.

In Guadalajara, the first nine ranked divers in each of the four events secured their qualification for Singapore, with the condition of having one male and one female diver per country in all events (example: if China qualified one diver in the men's 3m springboard and another in the men's 10m platform, only one of them will be in the Youth Olympic Games).
