South Texas Senior Championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, March 1. TERA Bradham and Manny Mendoza from Nitro Swimming out swam the competition during the South Texas Senior Short Course Championships at the NISD Natatorium.

Bradham won three individual events, including the 100 breast (1:06.19), 200 IM (2:08.12), and 400 IM (4:30,01), which she won by almost ten seconds. She was also a member of Nitro's winning 400 free relay (3:40.20) and 800 free relay (7:57.54). Teammate Taylor Bentley joined Bradham on both the 400 and 800 free relays and also swam on Nitro's winning 200 free relay (1:44.04). Bentley individually won the 200 back (2:05.88) as well.

Nitro also won the 400 medley relay (4:09.76), which included individual event winners, Annika Benck, Felicia Gilson, Megan Strohmeyer, and Tiffany Sudarma. Benck won the 50 free (25.33), Gilson won the 100 free (54.37), Strohmeyer won the 100 fly (58.92) and 200 fly (2:07.93), and Sudarma won the 100 back (58.51).

The San Antonio Wave took Nitro's sweep of the women's relay by touching them out by .02 to win the 200 medley relay (1:55.02). Member of the Wave's winning relay was Vanessa Duran who also won the 200 breast (2:21.18).

Other event winners included Gaby Colunga of the Alamo Area Swim Team and Lia Palmore of Texas Longhorn Aquatics. Colunga won the 200 free (1:56.64) and Palmore won the 1650 free (18:02.01).

Mendoza had a total of six wins, including four individual and two relays. Mendoza won the 500 free (4:41.37), 200 back (1:56.96), 200 IM (1:57.70), and 400 IM (4:08.70). Mendoza also helped Nitro win two relays including the 800 free relay (7:19.29) and 200 medley relay (1:44.81). Teammate Conor Yarbrough joined Mendoza on the winning relays and also had individual success of his won by winning the 50 free (22.60).

Texas Gold Swimming won three relays including the 200 free relay (1:33.77), 400 free relay (3:23.19), and 400 medley relay (3:47.53). On top of swimming on winning relays, Calvin Fusilier and Kyle Sockwell won individually as well. Fusilier won the 200 free (1:46.70) and the 200 fly (1:56.30) and Sockwell won the 200 breast (2:16.27).

Wences Marco Garcia from the Alamo Area Swim team had three individual wins including the 100 free (49.42), 100 back (54.96), and 100 fly (53.45). Teammate Connor Hennessey was also an event winner, winning the 1650 free (16:39.87).

The other even winner for the meet was Liam Lockwood from the San Antonia wave who swam to first in the 100 breast (1:02.38).
