Gulf Swimming Spring Championships

THE WOODLANDS, Texas. February 24. SKYLAR Smith of Katy Aquatics dominated the Gulf Swimming Spring Championships winning seven individual events during the short course yard meet hosted by The Woodlands Swim Team.

Smith impressively won the 200 IM (2:08.84), 400 IM (4:26.32), 50 free (24.20), 100 free (53.02), 200 free (1:54.35), 100 breast (1:05.08), and 200 breast (2:23.53) giving her a total of 140 points to earn female high point winner of the championships.

Meaghan Connolly of First Colony Swim Team (FCST) won two individual events including the 1000 free (10:16.15) and the 200 back (2:06.60). Connolly also was a member of FCST's winning 400 medley relay (4:05.36). Teammates Jordan Hancock and Brianna Dillon were individual winners as well, winning the 1650 free (17:36.58) and 100 back (59.71), respectively.

Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club (CFSC) won the 400 free relay (3:47.94) and one of the members, Allison Henry won individually as well, taking the 500 free (5:15.50).

Other individual winners included Haley Clark of Aggie Swim Club and Hannah Cooper of DADS. Clark won the 200 fly (2:09.81) and 100 fly (58.63).

Men's high point winner, Eric Ahrns from FCST individually won three events, including the 100 fly (53.09), 100 back (53.44) and 200 free (1:43.91). Teammate Daniel Graviss also had individual success, winning the 200 IM (2:00.39).

Houston Swim Club (HSC) won both the 400 medley relay (3:38.04) and 400 free relay (3:15.19). Harrison Bui, who swam on both winning relays, won the 100 breast (1:00.64). Jake Ritter, winner of the 400 IM (4:12.50), joined Bui on the winning relays. Other event winners from HSC included Brandon Vuong, who won the 200 fly (1:58.89), Jack Polinski, who won the 200 back (1:55.06), Kyle Myerson, who won the 200 breast (2:16.98), and Josh Rozner, who won the 100 free (48.54).

The other individual winner of the meet include Jonathan Coxon of Pack, Mitch Glander of Blue Tide Aquatics, Charles Graham of HCAP, and Austin Vacek of Katy Aquatics. Coxon won the 500 free (4:47.62), Glander won the 1000 free (9:30.25), Graham won the 50 free (21.40) and Vacek won the 1650 free (17:00.19).

First Colony Swim Team took the championships title with 1901 points, Houston Swim Club was second with 1447.5, and Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club was third with 1363.5 points.
