Georgia 5A High School State Championships

ATLANTA, Georgia, February 19. AT the Georgia 5A High School State Championships, Brookwood and Lassiter won state titles. The Brookwood boys took first with 241 points while Peachtree Ridge placed second (193). Walton outscored Alpharetta by only one point for third place (184). On the girls' side, Lassiter tallied 326 points followed by Walton (249) and Mill Creek (187.5).

Boys Results
The Peachtree Ridge foursome of Luke Upchurch, Bryce BeVier, John Simmons, and Bradley Faxon teamed up for wins in the 200 medley relay (1:35.95) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:09.91).

Northview's Matias Koski was a dual event winner in the distance races. He clocked times of 1:40.53 (200 freestyle) and 4:32.70 (500 freestyle).
Upchurch had individual wins in the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke with times of 46.56 and 50.85, respectively.

Robbie Swan, Aidan Sweeney, Michael Trice, and Conor Sweeney (Brookwood) teamed up for a win in the 200 freestyle relay. They finished first with a time of 1:26.75.

Freshman Jack Nyquist (Alpharetta) won the diving competition with a score of 523.40. Sean Piner of Parkview placed second (425.90) and David Sanchez of Walton took third (422.00).

Other first-place finishers include Allen Browning (Alpharetta) in the 200 IM (1:53.63), Ben Shepperd (Walton) in the 50 freestyle (21.51), Eric Madden (North Gwinnett) in the 100 butterfly (50.67), and Ricky Lehner (Parkview) in the 100 breaststroke (57.62).

Girls Results
Walton won two of three relays. Erin Reisinger, Aven Jackson, MaryRose Palermo, and Jessica Graber (the 50 freestyle champ in 23.69) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.49.

Senior Caroline Kenney (North Gwinnett) was a dual event winner in the 200 (1:49.25) and 100 (51.25) freestyles.

Centennial's Julia Treible had individual wins in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. She clocked times of 2:04.70 and 1:03.94, respectively.

Graber, Palermo, Adrienne Pilchard, and Reisinger won the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.66). Reisinger also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.99.

The Colquitt County trio of Kelsey Goodman, Ann Perry Blank and Elizabeth Ann Kirkland were top finishers in the diving competition. Goodman took first (517.95) followed by Blank (448.60) and Kirkland (425.35).

Other first-place finishers include Rachael Dudley (Mill Creek) in the 100 butterfly (55.39) and Sommers Creed (Mill Creek) in the 500 freestyle (4:51.17).

Lassiter closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:30.71). Courtney Ciesielski, Ansley Crenshaw, Sarah Williford, and Samantha Bosma contributed to the win.
