Dryland Activities Featured in Best of the Morning Swim Show Highlights in February Issue

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 2. WITH a new year comes new resolutions to stay in shape and get fitter. The Morning Swim Show featured several segments offering dryland tips to help swimmers of all levels get fitter and stronger in the pool. These segments are highlighted in the February issue of Swimming World Magazine.

NEIL WILEY
The University of Arizona's swim teams work with strength coach Neil Wiley regularly, using exercises featuring medicine balls, body weights and cables. These exercises work on the core, hamstrings and shoulders.

AUSTRALIA
Australia's sprinters are among the fittest athletes on the planet, and in this segment, we get a peek at some of the dryland exercises they performed while training at altitude in Flagstaff, Ariz. Eamon Sullivan, Andrew Lauterstein, Matt Abood and Geoff Huegill demonstrate such exercises as jumping rope, medicine ball abdominal work and exercises on the physioball.

ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY
Stretching is very important in any dryland routine, and here we feature swimmers from Arizona State University cooling down after a tough session in the weight room.

J.R. ROSANIA
J.R. Rosania is known for working with Olympic champions Misty Hyman and Gary Hall Jr., and here he demonstrates a few dryland exercises that he used to bring out the best in swimmers.

SIMON PERCY
Team bonding is a little-known side effect of dryland training, and Simon Percy, assistant coach at Arizona State, shows us a series of exercises that promote team unity.
