Industry News: New Site Brings Athletes of All Ages and Abilities Together with Expert Video Analysis From Leading Coaches World Wide

BALTIMORE, Maryland, January 28. THE Athlete Village, an online community connecting athletes and coaches announced today the launch of www.TheAthleteVillage.com. The new site brings athletes of all ages and abilities together with expert video analysis from leading coaches world wide. Beginning as a swimming focused site, The Athlete Village is the first company to offer online technical analysis from video submissions by swimmers on a large scale to include the mainstream swimming population that was previously only available to top level swimmers.

The Athlete Village provides an online meeting place for athletes and coaches to share experiences, knowledge, guidance, and just to get together with other villagers with similar interests. Packaged with video analysis that utilizes cutting edge video editing software provided by Dartfish, swimmers are given easy access to coaches around to the world to receive feedback on how to best improve their skills, stroke mechanics and performance.

"There is a large community of swimmers out there – a community that includes beginners, kids looking for better times to get college scholarships, masters swimmers, recreational swimmers, and triathletes -and they are looking for ways to improve," said Scott Riewald, performance technologist for The US Olympic Committee and Athlete Village coach. "We don't intend on replacing existing coaches or swim camps but rather want to provide access to other resources and a greater number of experts than is readily available to most swimmers along with a community site to host the exchange of information"

Swim coaches are signing up for the Athlete Village to share their experiences and as a source of added income in an otherwise low-paying sport. Swimmers are also joining not just for the technical analysis of video submission but for access to additional resources including swimming news, technical advice and product information available to online members. Membership is free and the cost of analysis is only $49 per submission.

"There are a lot of swimmers out there, whose talent has gone untapped," said Marc Randell, founder and President of The Athlete Village. "We hope to give every swimmer the opportunity to excel and meet their swimming potential while also bringing that same community together in a social network. The Athlete Village is a great place to share and exchange ideas, best practices or just find friends with similar interests. As a swimmer myself I am excited to help others involved in the sport."
