Georgia Diving Invitational: Day One

ATHENS, Georgia, January 4. JUNIOR Hannah Moore led Georgia's charge on Sunday in the Georgia Diving Invitational And Shootout at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Moore finished third in the women's 1-meter springboard competition as she scored 273.15 points in the finals. Florida's Kara Salamone was first with 285.70 points and SMU's Audra Egenolf took second with 273.65 points.

Moore stood sixth after the prelims with a score of 269.15. Also in the prelims, Georgia's Lexie Bryant was 22nd with 222.40 points and Landon Watters was 23rd with 216.80 points.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs' Owen Blank came in seventh on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 336.75. Tennessee's Ryan Helms took the top spot with 394.05 points.

Blank made the finals by coming in 11th in the prelims with a score of 306.70. Georgia's Alex Watson finished 16th in the prelims with a score of 287.30 and Tim Barrett came in 24th with 266.40 points.

"Coming off the holiday break, this is a meet where you really gear up for the second semester," Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. "We are training hard right now for the championship meets that are ahead of us. We did a lot of good things today. We left some points out there, but we know what we need to work on."

The Georgia Diving Invitational And Shootout will continue on Monday with men's 1-meter and the women's 3-meter competitions. The prelims will start at 11 a.m. and there is no cost for admission.
