USA Swimming Sectionals, Long Beach: Kosuke Kitajima, Kasey Carlson Put on Show on Final Night

LONG BEACH, California, December 22. THE final night of short course yard competition at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Long Beach featured some top flight talent in the breaststroke event.

The top two names at the meet enjoyed wins in the 100 breast. Kosuke Kitajima crushed the competition in the men's race with a 52.73. Cody Miller (55.28) and Bryan Haile (56.28) placed second and third. Meanwhile, Kasey Carlson clocked a swift time of 1:00.51 for the women's title. Melissa Bates (1:02.40) and Andrea Kropp (1:02.57) rounded out the podium.

Tristin Baxter cruised in the women's 1650 free with a winning time of 16:15.71. Catherine Breed placed second in 16:37.63, while Allison Brown took third in 16:51.59. Brock Redondo followed in the men's 1650 free with a top time of 15:29.60. Julian Bonse touched just behind in second with a 15:30.03, while Nicholas Johnson finished third in 15:34.50.

Deborah Roth claimed the women's 100 back in 54.00, while Madison White finished a close second in 54.33. Cindy Tran wound up third in 54.61.Vlad Morozov easily won the men's 100 back in 47.96, while Shane Tusup took second in 49.78. Marcus Schlesinger completed the top three in 50.36.

Yumi So earned the women's 100 fly title in 53.71. Jasmine Tosky took second in 54.56, while Marissa Neel touched third in 54.79. Patrick Simpkins won the men's 100 fly in 49.48, while Jack Ostler (49.62) and Tom Kremer (49.83) also broke 50 seconds for second and third.

Results from the 400 medley relays were not made available at press time.
