U.S. Short Course Junior Nationals: Lindsay McKnight Doubles Up

COLUMBUS, Ohio, December 10. THE first night of the U.S. short course junior nationals held in Columbus featured a double by 15-year-old Lindsay McKnight of corals Springs.

McKnight rolled in the women's 200 IM with a 1:58.03 after setting the meet record with a 1:58.61 during prelims. McKnight doubled up with a 22.74 to win the women's 50 free, also registered as a meet record.

The Bolles School's Megan Fonteno, Stacey Stanfield, Dana Nessler and Aubrey Peacock won the women's 200 free relay with a 1:32.99. Meanwhile, The City of Mobile's Spencer Kerns, Nicholas Colletti, William Glass and TJ Leon raced to victory in the men's 200 free relay with a 1:22.94. Leon dropped a strong 19.55 final leg to secure the win.

Mission Aurora's Bonnie Brandon snatched the women's 500 free crown in 4:44.23, while Clay Youngquist of Lakeview Aquatics clipped the meet record in the men's 500 free with a 4:20.58.

Hershey's David Nolan topped the men's 200 IM in 1:46.26, downing the 1:47.41 meet record set by Brian Kiel in prelims. Swim Torrance's Vlad Morozov touched out Leon, 19.83 to 19.96, in the men's 50 free as both beat the meet record.

The Bolles School women doubled up in relay action as Peacock, Alyssa Bodin, Fonteno and Stanfield won the women's 400 medley relay in 3:43.68 to beat the meet record. Bolles finished the night with a win in the men's 400 medley relay as well when Ryan Murphy, Sergio Lujan, Tim Romano and Thomas Gutman posted a 3:19.29 for the win and meet record.
