Clemson Inks Nine Recruits

CLEMSON, South Carolina, December 10. CLEMSON Swimming and Diving Head Coach Christopher Ip has announced a nine-member class for the early signing period. Ip and his staff have put together a class that includes recruits from five different states, State Champions, All-Americans and an Olympic Trial Qualifier.

"We are extremely happy with our early commitments to Clemson and welcome their families into the Tiger family," Head Coach Christopher Ip said. "We expect each of these swimmers to reach their academic and athletic goals senior year and be prepared to step onto Clemson University campus as impact players for our program."

Women:
Melissa Cooper: Davie, FL. (All-American, Florida State Champion, US Senior National Qualifier) Stephanie Kinsey – Harrisburg, PA (All-American, Six time All-State, Member of 2008 YMCA Long Course National Champion Team, Member of 3 YMCA National Record Relays, US Senior National Qualifier) Ali Polhill – Brewster, NY (All-American, US National & US Open Qualifier) Raquel "Rocky" Raybon – Sarasota, FL (2008 Olympic Trial Qualifier in 200 fly, World Championship Trial and National Qualifier, All-American)

Men:
Shayne Buckley – Clifton Park, NY (All-American, 2009 NYSPHSA Champion in 200 IM, Senior National Qualifier) Steven Gasparini – Mechanicsburg, PA (2008 PIAA State Champion in 200 IM, US Senior National Qualifier) Walker Layne – Chapin, SC (SC State Champion and Record holder in the 100 back) Bryce Mendes – Chapel Hill, NC (US Open Water National Championship Qualifier, 2009 NC State Champion in 1650 free, 2008 Trinidad International Open Water Champion) Anderson Sloan – Charlotte, NC (All-American, Member of NC State Record Medley Relay, Member of 2009 Men's Junior National Team Champion)
