CollegeSwimming.com Announces National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week Honors

SOMERS, Wisconsin, November 18. MULTIPLE NCAA qualifying times and a pool record for Maggie Meyer (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and multiple NCAA times for Radu Badalac (Ouachita Baptist University) earned them the Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week Honors. Also earning the award were Eugene Godsoe (Stanford University), Toni Musto (Grand Valley State University), April Whitley (Emory University) and Michael Mpitsos (Kenyon College) The six won the award based on their performances for the week of November 9-15.

Division I Women
Maggie Meyer, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Meyer (North Oaks, MN) had two wins in the 143-157 dual meet loss to Northwestern University. The junior won the 100 backstroke (53.01, NCAA "A" time, pool record) and the 200 backstroke (1:57.20, NCAA "B" time). Meyer also swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:22.51, NCAA "B" time) and the 200 medley relay (1:41.88, NCAA "B" time and pool record).

Division I Men
Eugene Godsoe, Stanford University

Godsoe (Greensboro, NC) had three wins in the un-scored tri-distance meet with University of California. The sophomore won the 50 backstroke (22.58), the 100 backstroke (48.26, NCAA "B" time) and the 200 backstroke (1:47.00, NCAA "B" time). The All-American also swam on the 200 medley relay (1:32.50).

Division II Women
Toni Musto, Grand Valley State University

Musto (Ada, MI) won the 200 breaststroke (2:19.53, NCAA "A" time) and swam to a second place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:12.48) at the 140-103 dual meet loss to Michigan State University. The sophomore also swam on the third place 200 medley relay (1:49.45).

Division II Men
Radu Badalac, Ouachita Baptist University

Badalac (Sibu, Romania) had two wins to help his team to a first place finish at the Henderson State Invitational this past weekend. The senior won the 100 backstroke (50.45 NCAA "A" time) and the 200 backstroke (1:51.50 NCAA "B" time).

Division III Women
April Whitley, Emory University

Whitley (Las Vegas, NV) helped her team win the Emory Invitational with a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.17, NCAA "B" time), a second place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.90, NCAA "B" time) and third in 200 individual medley (2:11.03). The junior also assisted on the winning 400 medley relay (3:56.42, NCAA "B" time).

Division III Men
Michael Mpitsos, Kenyon College

Mpitsos (Newport, OR) swam to a second place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:51.02, NCAA "B" time) and a third place finish in the 50 freestyle (21.33) in the 135-159 dual meet loss to Miami of Ohio. The junior also swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:34.05, NCAA "B" time) and the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:23.65, NCAA "B" time).
