TCU vs. Colorado State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 23. THE TCU women swimmers and divers (0-1, 0-1) took both diving and butterfly events, but couldn't pull it all together in the end against Colorado State (1-0, 1-0), as they fell 173-124 Thursday night at Moby Pool.

"We swam very well tonight," said TCU swimming and diving head coach Richard Sybesma. "Colorado State is a strong team in their own pool, but I felt like this was a good starting place for the season. I'm proud of our girls."

Senior diver Jennifer Ferguson turned in a stellar performance, as she won the one- and three-meter diving events. Ferguson scored 285.44 in six dives in the one-meter, while registering a scorecard of 308.70 to take the three-meter event.

Senior Stephanie Futscher got her season off well, taking the 200-fly with a time of 2:07.25. The Irving, Texas native claimed seven event wins in each of the last two seasons, including five 200-fly medals a year ago.

Sophomore Jenny Oster helped TCU to sweep the butterfly events, tapping the wall ahead of the pack with a time of 57.77. Sophomore Zrinka Korac trailed Oster to claim third place honors at 58.45. Korac also earned runner-up honors in the 100-free (53.67), topping newcomer Kristi Dena (54.11), finishing in third place.

Sophomore Ashley Bolin snared her first win of the season in the 200-free at 1:53.91, just ahead of freshman Ali Berry with a time of 1:55.54 for third place considerations. Freshman Rachel Nash also impressed, leading all Horned Frogs in the 200-back at 2:10.94.

TCU's conference schedule continues Friday as the Frogs travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to face the Air Force Academy, the host team, and Northern Colorado.
