YMCA Long Course Championships: Meet Comes to Close With Several YMCA Records

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland, July 31. THE YMCA Long Course Championships came to a close with several more YMCA records falling by the wayside.

B R Ryall's Carrie Chibe topped the women's 800 free in 9:21.57. Downtown Youth's Rebecca Maher placed second in 9:21.67, while North Shore's India Boland, 15, claimed third in 9:25.85.

Middle Tyger's Addie Carne won the women's 200 fly in 2:20.28, touching out W. North Carolina's Victoria Oslund, who finished in 2:20.33. North Shore's Kelly O'Connor took third in 2:22.46.

Rappahannock's Josh Friedel turned in a YMCA record time of 2:03.13 in the men's 200 fly. The performance wiped out the 2:04.25 set by Todd McGraw in 2006. W. North Carolina's Nathan Hart cleared the former record as well with a second-place 2:03.56. Boyertown's Wesley Trumbauer finished third in 2:06.78.

Cheshire's Lauren Solernou won the women's 50 back in 29.33, while Greensburg's Anna Gibas placed second in 30.12. Powel Crosley's Celia Oberholzer, 15, rounded out the top three in 30.18.

Bath Area's James Wells touched first in the men's 50 back in 26.43. Cheshire's Jack Pretto took second in 26.92, while Countryside's Steven Zimmerman claimed third in 27.16.

Wilton's K.C. Moss, 14, lowered the women's 100 breast YMCA record with a 1:11.26 during prelims before winning at night with a 1:11.89. The readout eclipsed the 1:12.32 set by K. Jones of South Community in 1996. Upper Main Line's Emily Schon placed second in 1:13.15 with Montclair's Stephanie Ferrell taking third in 1:13.92.

Red Bank's Harrison Cefalo won the men's 100 breast in 1:05.47. Rowan's Tanner Lowman touched just behind in 1:05.80, while Glens Falls' Andrew Guinther wound up third in 1:06.07.

Plenty of relay action also took place. Anne Arundel's Kendall Farnham, Caroline Burnes, Sarah Lloyd and Emily Lloyd completed the women's 200 free relay in a YMCA record of 1:48.29. That swim cleared the 1:48.36 set by West Shore last year. Upper Main Line's Matthew Salig, Thomas Mershon, Jimmy Ryan and Andrew Seiler captured the men's 200 free relay in 1:36.84.

Middle Tyger's Kendall Crawford, Caroline Fore, Haley Lips and Carne won the women's 400 medley relay in a YMCA record 4:18.78. That time wiped out the 4:22.96 set by West Shore last year. Upper Main Line's Mershon, Seiler, Salig and Nathan Reed claimed the men's 400 medley relay in a YMCA mark of 3:56.31 to edge the 3:56.41 set by M.E. Lyons in 2001.
