USA Swimming Sectionals, Mount Hood: Colorado Stars Post Strong Evening

MOUNT HOOD, Oregon, July 25. THE Colorado Stars posted a strong evening to finish long course meter swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Mount Hood, Ore.

Kelly Naze, 15, of the Colorado Stars won the women's 200 IM in 2:17.11. DU Hilltopper Bridgette McNally placed second in 2:19.44 with Colorado Stars' Caroline Piehl finishing third in 2:20.86. Boulder's Stephen Schmuhl snagged the men's 200 IM in 2:06.88. DU Hilltopper Clayton Myers claimed second in 2:07.08, while Jacob Taylor wound up third in 2:09.02.

Mission Aurora's Bonnie Brandon, 15, won the women's 1500 free in 17:03.97. Boulder's Elizabeth Anderson, 14, touched second in 17:06.45 with DU Hilltopper Amanda McNally taking third in 17:08.85. North Jeffco's Andy Chevalier captured the men's 1500 free in 16:00.25. DU Hilltopper Ben Holston hit the wall second in 16:05.30, while Greenwood's Jared Markham completed the top three in 16:07.45.

Missy Franklin, 14, of the Colorado Stars completed an impressive meet with a 25.81 in the women's 50 free for the win. Roseburg's Kaylin Bing placed second in 26.22 with Willamalane's Kaila Lee finishing third in 26.27. Mount Hood's Kyle Maese clinched the men's 50 free in 23.20, while BEST's Michael Branning took second in 23.48. Wild's Tory Hale claimed third in 23.49.
