USA Swimming Sectionals, Houston: Meet Comes to Close

HOUSTON, Texas, July 19. THE final night of long course meter swimming came to a close at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Houston.

The Woodlands' Gabby Maddalena easily won the women's 1500 free in 17:02.78. Magnus' Meaghan Grimes finished second in 17:71.82 with Houston's Kaleigh Ritter taking third in 17:20.37. Loveland's Jacob Ores touched out Metro's Sam Lewis, 16:11. 33 to 16:11.47, in the men's 1500 free. Magnus' Jun Oh claimed third in 16:25.12.

First Colony's Jordan Hancock touched first in 2:18.19 for the women's 200 fly title. Pack's Anna Patterson took second in 2:20.38 with Alamo's Erika Roach finishing third in 2:20.71. Aggie's Tyler Welch snared the men's 200 fly in 2:04.95. West Austin's Chris Griffin finished second in 2:06.55 with Cypress Fairbanks' Max Lewis taking third in 2:06.74.

Sun Devil's Kathryn Haron hit the wall in 26.62 in the women's 50 free. First Colony's Madeline Locus placed second in 26.71, while Tiger's Samantha Goates wound up third in 26.74. Aggie's Casey Strange grabbed the men's 50 free in 23.21. Cypress Fairbanks' Neil Caskey took second in 23.36, while Katy's Joshua Bagby earned third in 23.56.

Tiger's Kannon Betzen claimed the women's 200 IM title in 2:19.95, while Aquastar Skylar Smith finished second in 2:20.31. Magnus' Erica Belcher placed third in 2:21.22. Results from the men's 200 IM were not made available.
