Texas Senior Circuit, Austin: Tanica Jamison Doubles

AUSTIN, Texas, June 13. LONGHORN's Tanica Jamison grabbed a pair of victories during the third evening of long course meter swimming at the Texas Senior Circuit stop held in Austin.

Jamison first raced to victory in the women's 200 free with a time of 2:01.03. She cruised in the event with Texas A&M's Kristen Heiss taking second in 2:04.25. Heiss' teammate Hannah Kinder placed third in 2:04.42.

Longhorn dominated the men's 200 free with a 1-2-3-4-6 finish. Dale Rogers won in 1:50.29 with Bryan Collins (1:51.65), Peter Jameson (1:52.45) and Ryan Verlatti (1:53.01) completing the top four. Ben Van Roekel placed sixth in 1:54.85. Blue Tide's Matt Barber took fifth in 1:54.30.

Notably, Garrett Weber-Gale qualified second in 1:51.67 with Scott Jostes qualifying fourth in 1:52.09 in prelims but scratched.

Elizabeth Tinnon cruised in the women's 100 breast with a triumphant time of 1:10.03. Gold's Micah Lawrence placed second in 1:12.49, while Katie Meili of the North Texas Nadadores rounded out the top three in 1:12.82. Matthew Lowe of Longhorn clinched the men's 100 breast title in 1:02.14, holding off Coral Springs' Vlad Polyakov (1:02.58). Matthew Hoyland placed third in 1:04.83, while Olympian Eric Shanteau of Longhorn drew a disqualification while testing out a new unapproved suit in competition.

Heiss won a head-to-head battle with teammate Emily Neal, 2:18.59 to 2:18.86, in the women's 200 back. Longhorn's Madeline Edwards claimed third in 2:21.67. Hayes Johnson followed in the men's 200 back with a top time of 2:02.69. Alan Maher claimed second in 2:05.38 with Nelson Da Silva Jr. finishing third in 2:08.17.

Jamison returned for her second triumph of the night with a 1:00.21 in the women's 100 fly. Dallas Mustang Angela San Juan Cisneros placed second in 1:01.00. Coral Springs' Carol Kuczynski finished third in 1:02.96. Longhorn went 1-2-3 in the men's 100 fly. Matt Donch won in 53.68, while James Feigen placed second in 53.80. Hill Taylor took third in 54.11. Notably, Jostes qualified second in 55.75, while Boris Loncaric qualified third in 56.24 but scratched.

Longhorn's Natalie Sacco claimed a close victory in the women's 400 IM with a 4:57.42. Texas A&M's Melissa Hain placed just behind in second with a 4:57.88, while teammate Emily Neal took third in 4:59.18. Hayes Johnson snatched the men's 400 IM title in 4:27.17. Coral Springs' Leopold Andara touched second in 4:32.68 with Longhorn's Bryan Collins placing third in 4:34.88. Clint Hallum of the Dallas Mustangs qualified third in 4:40.53 but scratched finals.

Hayley McGregory, the American record holder with a 27.80 to her credit, crushed the women's 50 back with a winning time of 28.20. Dallas Mustang Martina Moravcova snared second in 29.55 with Longhorn's Rebecca Orr taking third in 30.91. Dallas Mustang Pontus Renholm cruised in the men's 50 back with a top readout of 26.32. Plano's Tommy Sacco took second in 27.26 with Texas A&M's Niki Denisyako finishing third in 27.27.
