Dutch Long Course Nationals: Job Kienhuis Sets National Record

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, June 13. JOB Kienhuis set a national record at the Dutch Long Course Nationals held in Eindhoven during the second day of swimming.

Kienhuis posted a 7:57.48 to win the men's 800 free. The time crushed his previous record of 8:00.69 set in April and made him the first Dutch man under 8:00. Arjen van der Meulen (8:19.98) and Bryan Mannaart (8:21.27) placed second and third.

Joeri Verlinden topped the meet record in the men's 100 fly with a time of 53.08. The performance cleared Robin van Aggele's mark of 53.43 set during prelims. Jeroen Stuut placed second in 55.08 with Marc Kremer taking third in 55.27.

Bastiaan Liejesen clipped the meet record in the men's 50 back with a triumphant time of 25.91. The swim cleared Nick Driebergen's 2008 standard of 25.94. Jan Kersten touched second in 26.79, while Nathan Fraysse tied Robert Yallop for third with matching 27.09s.

Femke Heemskerk nipped the third meet record of the night. She posted a time of 1:57.84 in the women's 200 free. That readout edged Heemskerk's meet mark of 1:57.86 set last year. Rieneke Terink touched second in 2:00.46 with Saskia de Jonge picking up third in 2:00.51.

Chantal Groot touched out Ranomi Kromowidjojo, 59.52 to 59.72, in the women's 100 fly, while Jessica Spruit finished third in 1:00.89.

Loes Zanderink claimed the women's 200 breast title in 2:32.30. Lia Dekker placed second in 2:33.20 with Tessa Brouwer finishing third in 2:34.14. Thijs van Valkengoed snatched the men's 200 breast in 2:17.21. Lennart Stekelenburg (2:17.77) and Rutger Sloof (2:20.38) completed the top three.

Hinkelien Schreuder just missed her meet record in the women's 50 back with a winning time of 29.04. Schreuder previously posted a 28.94 back in 2005. Kimberley Albers touched second in 29.45, while Anja van der Hout wound up third in 30.09.

van Aggele won the men's 400 IM crown in 4:28.21. Davy Verreussel took second in 4:28.65, while Bram Dekker claimed third in 4:32.56.

Sebastiaan Verschuren took home the men's 200 free title in 1:48.50, while Joost Reijns (1:50.68) and Verlinden (1:51.06) rounded out the top three.

Sharon van Rouwendaal won the women's 800 free in 8:44.32 while Rieneke Terink finished second in 8:56.41. Lieke Verouden placed third in 9:02.40.
