Two Gold Medals for Canadians at US Grand Prix

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, May 16. CANADIAN teams finished 1-2 in the women's 4X100 freestyle relay and Amanda Reason of Windsor, Ont., added another gold with a national age group record in the women's 100-metre breaststroke on Friday at the Charlotte UltraSwim swimming competition.

In the women's 4X100 freestyle relay, Montreal's Club de natation des Piscine du Parc Olympique de Montréal won the gold in three minutes and 48.75 seconds. The Montreal swimmers had a rough trip to North Carolina leaving Thursday night and arriving only Friday morning, hours before the start of the morning preliminaries as poor weather affected the team's travel.

Team Ontario finished second with Hilary Bell and Paige Schultz, both of Toronto, Hayley Nell of London and Reason in 3:49.91. The Michigan Wolverines were third in 3:52.00

In the women's 100 breaststroke, the 15-year-old Reason clocked one minute and 08.80 seconds for the victory to eclipse the previous 15-17 age group mark of 1:08.86 set in 1988 by Allison Higson.
