Chinese National Championships: Jiao Liu Yang Sets Asian Record

SHAOXING, China, April 11. DURING another night of swift swimming, swimmers continued to rewrite the Asian and national record books at the Chinese National Championships held over long course.

Pang Jiaying claimed the women's 100 free title in 54.28, while Qi Hui topped the women's 200 breast in 2:24.37 after winning the 100 breast and 200 IM earlier in the meet.

Xie Zhi earned the men's 200 breast title in 2:12.75 to break his national record of 2:13.34 set last September.

In another national-record swim, Jiao Liu Yang posted a swift 26.04 in the women's 50 fly according to a rough translation. The time broke the Asian and national record of 26.30 set by Zhou Yafei in 2006.

Cai Li matched the oldest men's national record on the books with a 22.33 in the men's 50 free semifinal round. Chengji Jiang previously set the record with a 22.33 at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
