Seattle Wins Two in NAIA Action

SEATTLE, Jan. 6. THE Seattle University men's and women's swim teams started the new year right where they left off as both teams swam to easy victories over Linfield College. The men, ranked second in the NAIA, won by a score of 146-58. The third-ranked women swam to a 150-49 victory.

The Redhawks were back in action for the first time in nearly a month. The last meet Seattle swam in was the Claremont Invitational from Dec. 8-9.

Elliott Kolbe (Jr., Gardenerville, Nev./Douglas HS) and Joe Laughlin (So.,Albany, Ore./West Albany HS) each won two individual events for the Redhawks. Kolbe took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.55) and the
200-yard breaststroke (2:14.00). Laughlin was victorious in the 50-yard free (22.23) and the 100-yard free (48.93).

Megan Ackerman (So., Shoreline/Shoreline HS) and Gretchen Denzer†(Fr.,University Place/Curtis HS) each recorded two victories for the women. Ackerman won the 1650 free (18:42.43) and the 500 free (5:30.32). Denzer took first in the 50 free (25.65) and the 100 free (55.96)
