Industry News: TYR Signs Royal Spanish Swimming Federation

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, April 8. TYR Sport, Inc. and the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation have announced a four-year partnership that includes swimming, diving, open water swimming and synchronized swimming. Under the new agreement, athletes will wear and use TYR technical swimwear, equipment and accessories in their training and competitions through the 2012 Olympic Games. The relationship will also allow TYR to communicate with the entire member community of the Federation and involve their athletes in valuable product research and development.

"With the recent Spanish, European and World record-breaking performances by Federation swimmers including Aschwin Wildeboer and Mirela Belmonte, as well as the team's accomplishments at the Beijing Olympics, the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation's athletes are part of a compelling program on the international stage. From champion swimmers and divers to one of the world's best synchronized swimming teams, we are excited about our new partnership," said Franck Horter, TYR's General Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

TYR's elite Tracer Technology has helped position the brand at the forefront of the global market and currently holds two of the fastest recorded times in history (20.48 in 50m freestyle SC, 44.94 in 100m freestyle SC).

Fernando Carpena, President at the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation stated, "Spain has produced exceptional athletes with recent achievements including Athlete of the Year Awards given to the synchronized swimming team of Andrea Fuentes and Gemma Mengual. Our Federation's goal is to assist athletes and coaches in realizing their highest dreams, whether in swimming, water polo, diving, open water or synchronized swimming. TYR's dedication to the sport and their commitment to provide the best possible technology and equipment to swimmers of all levels will help us gain a competitive advantage both in and out of the water. We are looking forward to our relationship with TYR."

TYR's Horter concluded, "It is apparent that Spain takes great pride in its swimming program from extensive coaching education to developing junior athletes into world-class competitors. Working with these coaches, swim centers and clubs across the country, the Federation's primary mission is to build and promote the best programs and teams for today's and future generations to come. TYR is proud to be a part of that mission and will do everything possible to assist these teams in reaching their goals."
