USA Swimming Sectionals, Brown Deer: Several Swimmers Double Up on Second Night

BROWN DEER, Wisconsin, March 13. THE second night of action at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Brown Deer, Wis., featured several swimmers picking up a pair of gold medals on the evening.

Danielle Harris began the evening with a winning time of 55.57 in the women's 100-yard back, while Schroeder's Adam Mania set the meet record in the men's 100-yard back with a time of 47.12. The swim beat the previous standard of 48.03 set by Justin Thornton in 1999.

Birmingham's Annie Lazor beat out Firestone's Breanna McCann, 1:03.25 to 1:03.75, for the women's 100-yard breast victory, while Ivan Gutesa (54.25) and Wisconsin's Eric Johnson (54.42) bettered the men's 100-yard breast meet record of 54.44 set by Kevin Zakrewski in 2007.

Ames Cyclone Stephanie Koch beat the women's 200-yard free meet record with a 1:48.32. Her time lowered the 1:48.46 set by Monica Drake in 2008. Dubuque Area's Jordan Huff followed in the men's 200-yard free with a 1:38.16 for the win. Jacob Jarzen finished just behind in 1:38.32 for second.

Koch doubled up in the women's 100-yard fly with a winning time of 55.30, while South West's Jack Lennertz captured the men's 100-yard fly title in 48.82.

Harris returned for her second win of the evening when she hit the wall in 2:04.21 in the women's 200-yard IM. Black Hawk's Jordan Wessels then touched out Jarzen, 1:50.33 to 1:50.50, for the men's 200-yard IM triumph.

New Trier's Megan Marchuk, Maddy Urban, Samantha James and Kate Shumway won the women's 800-yard free relay in 7:33.90, while their teammates Andy Peterson, Joe Jeffers, Samuel Metz and Michael Dominski grabbed the men's 800-yard free relay crown in 6:50.59.
