Indiana Boys High School State Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 6. FIVE-star recruit Kyle Whitaker (Chesterton) highlighted the Indiana Boys High School State Championships. He led his team to a first-place finish with 222 points. Munster, North Central (Indianapolis), and Carmel tied for second with 183 points.

Individual Results
Whitaker set a national high school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:45.25. His 100 butterfly prelim time of 47.85 surpassed the 2000 state standard (48.06) set by Matt McDonald of Ham Seastern.

Whitaker also teamed up with Matthew Rosiecki, Bill Bass, and Tyler Fozkos in the 200 medley relay. The boys set a state record with a time of 1:32.01. Bass had individual wins in the 200 (1:38.52) and 500 (4:30.01) freestyles, while Fozkos won the individual 50 freestyle (20.73).

Senior Casey Johnson (Indian Creek) won the diving competition with a score of 525.05. Tyler Clingerman of Plainfield and Darian Schmidt of Bloomington South took second (492.50) and third (460.75) respectively.

Zach Snider, Justin Rossillo, Jacob Robinson, and Nathan Kinney (Homestead) won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.27. Kinney won the 100 freestyle (45.12). He touched out Munster's Kevin Behrens by only .06 seconds for a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke (49.81).

North Central (Indianapolis) closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay. Ross Van Allen, Alec LaMothe, August Van Allen, and Brandon Siemasko clocked a time of 3:05.00 for a first-place finish.
