New Trier Breaks National Public High School Record in 400 Free Relay

WINNETKA, Illinois, March 2. WHILE Glenbrook South was busy setting the national high school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay at the Illinois State High School Championships, New Trier also set the national public high school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The New Trier quartet of Joe Jeffers, Sam Metz, Nick Killeen and Mike Dominski clocked a time of 3:02.24. The performance eclipsed the longstanding 1989 public school record of 3:02.40 set by Churchill High in Texas.

The overall record still stands from the independent school category with a 2:59.98 set by The Bolles School back in 1991.
