Britta Kamrau, Michael Dmitriev Take Home Gold From FINA Open Water Grand Prix Stop in Argentina

VIEDMA, Argentina, February 16. DURING the third stop of the FINA Open Water Grand Prix held on Feb. 14 in Viedma, Argentina, Germany's Britta Kamrau claimed her third medal in three races on the circuit. This time, Kamrau claimed her second gold during the 15K event. Meanwhile, Israel's Michael Dmitriev grabbed the gold among the men.

Kamrau stopped the clock in 2:57:22, while Russia's Anna Uvarova took second in 2:58:48. Esther Nunez of Spain completed the podium with a 3:01:54.

For the men, Dmitriev held off Germany's Alexander Studzinski down the home stretch, 2:45:12 to 2:45:14. Local Damian Blaum of Argentina took third with a 2:45:37 in front of a partisan crowd.

The swim took place on the Rio Negro in Argentina. A total of 31 swimmers (13 women, 18 men) competed in the event that featured 2.5K laps in a rectangular circuit.

The Grand Prix circuit goes on a bit of a hiatus until returning on April 18 with a race at the Sumidero Canyon in Mexico.
