Georgia 5A High School State Swimming and Diving Championships

ATLANTA, Georgia, February 17. AT the GHSSCA 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships, the Brookwood boys won with 255 points, followed by Norcross (224) and Parkview (177.5). Lassiter took first place for the girl's with307 points. Brookwood and Walton placed second (284) and third (223) respectively.

Boys Individual Results
Seniors Kevin Spiwak, Andrew Feeney, Connor Stickney, and Sean Bagent (Norcross) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:36.57. Feeney had a first-place finishing time of 57.68 in the 100 breaststroke as well.

Conor Sweeney (Brookwood) took first in the 200 (1:40.41) and 500 (4:35.75) freestyles.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Clarence Messler, Ben Hudlow, Eloi Furtado, and Andrew Ruffing (Parkview) won with a time of 1:26.89. Ruffing had individual wins in the 100 butterfly (49.47) and the 100 backstroke. He set a pool record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.53.

Jeff Cox won the 200 IM and the 100 freestyle with times of 1:52.18 and 46.04 respectively.

The diving competition was won by Alex Watson (Woodstock) with a score of 549.60. Colquitt County's Dominic Price took second (464.50) and Kyle Puffenburger of Alpharetta placed third (424.60).

Brookwood closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Danny Nguyen, Mark Dunn, Ken Bolton, and Sweeney finished with a time of 3:09.79.

Girls Individual Results
Brookwood's Jana Mangimelli, Anna Springer, Haley Holcombe, and Meghan Faulkner touched out Walton by .07 seconds, setting a state record in the 200 medley relay (1:45.05). Mangimelli secured first place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.15 as well.

Juniors Ansley Long of Keenesaw Mountain (453.75), Anny Perry Blank of Colquitt County (442.85), and Sara Halliburton of Duluth (381.80) were the top three finishers in the diving competition.

North Gwinnett's Caroline Keeney took first place in the 200 (1:47.10) and 100 (50.15) freestyles.

Jessica Graber, MaryRose Palermo, Adrienne Pilchard, and Erin Reisinger won the 200 freestyle relay in a state record time of 1:35.59. Reisinger won the 50 freestyle (23.10) and the 100 backstroke (53.71).

Allyson Sweeney (Brookwood) won the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.10. She teamed up with Kelsey Gouge, Faulkner, and Mangimelli to close the meet with a state record in the 400 freestyle relay (3:26.54).
