CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, February 13. SEVENTEEN Wingate University swimming student-athletes earned All-Blue Grass Mountain Conference honors on the first full day of the 2009 BGMC Championships at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center (MCAC) pool in downtown Charlotte. On the team charts, both Bulldog teams occupy third place through 12 events.

The defending BGMC champions, the Wingate men have 188.5 points. Washington & Lee University is first with 202 points. Limestone College is second with 190.5 points, only two more than the Wingate. The Bulldog women (171 points) are only one point behind second-place University of Tampa (172 points). The 2008 champion Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays hold possession of first place with 243 points.

The times were fast, as multiple meet records fell by the wayside. On Thursday, the Wingate men posted four NCAA Division II "A" Cuts and four NCAA Division II "B" Cuts. The Bulldog women recorded one NCAA Division II "B" Cut. The Wingate women missed an "A" cut in the 400 Medley Relay by 0.22 seconds.
