Yale vs. Connecticut

STORRS, Connecticut, February 5. THE University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded the dual meet portion of its schedules on Saturday as both teams defeated Yale. The men won by a 157-143 score to finish at 7-1 in dual action and the women won 168-132 to finish 6-2.

The women's team was paced by sophomore diver Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.), who won both the one-meter (289.20) and three-meter events (294.30).

The men were paced by senior Alex Davidson (Pointe-Claire, Que.), who won both the 100-yard backstroke (50.47 seconds) and the 200-yard back (1:49.63). The men's other double winner was sophomore Karim Zayed (Montreal, Que.) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.06) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:34.67).

Sophomore Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 45.92 seconds while sophomore Joe Glowacki (Erie, Pa.) won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:L51.22. Sophomore Jeremy Ramshaw (Mississauga, Ont.) won the 200-yard IM in 1:53.60. Senior Adam Genuario (Norwalk, Conn.) won the three-meter diving with 265.87 points and junior Jens Peter Traff (Lyngby, Denmark) with a 59.35 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Winners for the women's team included: junior Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kansas) with a 2:08.13 in the 200-yard IM; sophomore Jordan Bowen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) with a 10:18.25 in the 1000-yard freestyle; junior Ye Ling (Lake Worth, Fla.) with a 24.27 in the 50-yard freestyle; and freshman Katlin Kyle (West Hartford, Conn.) with a 58.47 in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Huskies return to action with the BIG EAST Championship in Louisville, Kent., as the diving takes place from February 11-13 and the swimming from February 16-19.
