Swimmers Choice Award Update: Cesar Cielo Gaining on Michael Phelps

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 22. THANKS to some strong mobilizing forces within the Brazilian online swimming community, Cesar Cielo is closing the gap on Michael Phelps for Swimming World's second annual Swimmers Choice World Male Swimmer of the Year award.

Previously standing with 80-90 percent of the votes, Phelps' share is down to 62 percent, while Cielo has moved up to 25 percent of total votes on our home page at www.SwimmingWorldMagazine.com.

Meanwhile, Australia's Stephanie Rice holds a strong lead in the Swimmers Choice World Female Swimmer of the Year voting with 36 percent. Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry has 15 percent, while Dara Torres of the U.S. has 14 percent.
