NCAA Div. I Women: Jamison Stars as Texas Outduels Michigan in Exhibition

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 18. THE No. 10-ranked University of Texas women's swimming and diving team won 11 of 15 events during a non-scored exhibition against No. 11 Michigan Saturday at the Canham Natatorium.

Sophomore Tanica Jamison (Dublin, Calif.) was the meet's only individual double winner, capturing the 100- (51.90) and 200-yard freestyle (1:51.24). Senior Colleen Lanné (Tucson, Ariz./Sal Pointe Catholic HS) won the 500 freestyle event with a time of 5:02.08, while senior Shona Kitson (Windsor, Ontario/Vincent Massey HS) touched first in the 50 free (24.83).

"Definitely this was a great weekend for us," said co-head coach Jill Sterkel. "Today we wanted to come back strong, even though it was a non-scoring event. We wanted to challenge ourselves by focusing on improving our times and finishes. They were quite successful and showed a great team effort."

Other strong contributions came from junior Courtney Timmons (Gainesville, Fla./Bucholz HS), who notched a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.91, and junior Bethany Lindberg (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge HS), who won the 1650 freestyle (16:22.60).

Additionally, the team of Lanné, junior Kelley Robins (Houston Texas/Awty International), junior Lauren Martin (Houston, Texas/The Bolles School) and sophomore Erin Phenix (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline
Academy) captured the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:29.18.
