USA Swimming Grand Prix, Minnesota: Mary DeScenza Doubles Again

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, November 15. MARY DeScenza of Athens Bulldog picked up another title double during the second night of swimming at the USA Swimming Grand Prix held in Minneapolis.

DeScenza walked away with the women's 100 back crown in 53.73, while also taking the 500 free in a surprising win over distance specialist Chloe Sutton, 4:43.20 to 4:45.05.

Ryan Lochte of Dayton Beach clinched the title in the men's 100 back with a time of 46.85, while Ray Betuzzi of Minnesota garnered the men's 500 free crown in 4:26.66.

Arkansas' Katie Kastes opened the evening with a victory in the women's 400 IM with a time of 4:19.71, while Ian Clark of Suburban topped the men's 400 IM in 3:52.62.

Stacy Busack of Minnesota cruised in the women's 50 free with a time of 23.29, while William Copeland of California snatched the men's 50 free with a swift time of 19.31.

Leah Pierce of Arkansas grabbed the women's 200 breast title in 2:10.96, while Matthew Lowe of Longhorn cleared two minutes with a winning effort of 1:58.84 in the men's 200 breast.

Minnesota swept the relay events for the second night in a row. Hannah Whitehead, Jillian Tyler, Kaylee Jamison and Busack won the women's 400 medley relay in 3:44.44, while Karl Burdis, Ivan Gutesa, Kevin Baseheart and Steve Miller claimed the men's 400 medley relay in 3:18.86.
