Duquesne vs. Clarion

CLARION, Pennsylvania, November 14. THE Duquesne men's and women's swimming teams picked up dual meet wins over Clarion on Friday. The men won nine of 11 races en route to a 137-100 victory, while the women won eight events on their way to a 130-100 win.

Sophomore Edward LeBlanc won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.15 and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.27 and fellow sophomore Jim O'Hara won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.91 and the 100-yard butterfly in 51.20 to lead the Dukes.

Also winning for DU were sophomore Matt Wollenschlaeger with a 10:07.25 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, sophomore Greg Mastuszweski with a 54.13 in the 100-yard backstroke and junior Ian Walsh with a 1:00.19 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Junior Anne Hayles led off with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:53.03. She was followed by sophomore Erin Sykes who won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.80, senior Katrina Streiner who won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.54 and freshman Monique Lefort who won the 100-yard butterfly in 58.88.

The meet finished up with freshman Morgan Claycomb winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.62, sophomore Angela Majkut taking the 500-yard freestyle in 5:16.45 and freshman Hannah Kondrotas winning the 400-yard individual medley in 4:38.75.

The Dukes return to action on Friday, Nov. 21 as they travel to St. Peter's for a 4:00 pm meet.
