Oakland v. Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio. November 8. SENIOR Sophia Gustafsson swept first-place finishes in the 500-yard (5:11.82) and 1000 freestyle (10:34.87), junior Marcin Unold finished first in the 200 free (1:44.18) and 200 backstroke (1:54.40), and both the men's (Unold, freshman Scott Yarbrough, freshman Anders Jensen and senior Andy Kellogg) and women's (junior Agnes Solan, freshman Johanna Gustafsson, freshman Jackie Hynson and freshman Alyssa Vela) 400 medley relay teams finished first with times of 3:26.38 for the men (a season-high) and 3:57.20 for the women as the Oakland University men's and women's swimming and diving teams once again defeated Wright State University by scores of 131.5-108.5 for the men and 154-87 for the women. Over the course of the two-day meet, Oakland swept Wright State by a score of 267.5-215.5 for the men and 285-197 for the women.

Other first-place finishes on the men's side came from freshman Tim Montague, who claimed first-place in the 1000 free for the second day in a row with a time of 9:48.48, junior Eddie Toro in 400 IM with a season-best time of 4:10.85, Jensen in the 200 butterfly (1:54.11), Kellogg in the 100 free (47.17) and senior Aaron Holdsworth in the 500 free (4:43.79).

On the women's side, the Golden Grizzlies once again swept the diving events. Sophomore Chelsea Oates set a season-best score in the one-meter diving springboard with a mark of 258.45 and freshman Marcella Barretta also set a season and career-best in the three-meter springboard with 268.42 points.

Other big winners were Solan, who notched a first-place finish in the 200 free (1:56.15), sophomore Corey Tschannen won the 50 free (25.52), senior Julie Hintermeister won the 200 fly (2:11.63), freshman Johanna Gustafsson set a season-best in the 200 breast (2:24.22), Vela touched the wall first in the 100 free (53.39) and the 200 free relay team of sophomore Lauren Patterson, Tschannen, sophomore Kelli Dewey and Vela finished first with a time of 1:40.40.
