Oregon State, UC Santa Barbara v. UCLA

LOS ANGELES, California. November 7. THE UCLA swimming team continued its domination over Oregon State and UC Santa Barbara as the Bruins improved to 3-0 with wins over both the Beavers and Gauchos. UCLA improved to 7-0 all-time against OSU with a 174-71 win, and is now 25-0 all-time against UCSB with today's 161-84 win. UCSB defeated OSU 158-87.

The Bruins had much success in the pool as they won 10 of the 14 events contested, broke nine meet records and tallied 26 season-best times. Leading the way for the second consecutive meet with multiple event wins were seniors Anna Poteete and Madeleine Stanton and freshman Yasi Jahanshahi.

Poteete won the 50 (23.41), 100 (50.79) and 200 free (1:50.39), while setting meet records against both Oregon State and UC Santa Barbara in the 50 and 100 free. Jahanshahi also set meet records against both schools in the 100 (55.83) and 200 (2:00.92) butterfly. Stanton tallied event wins in both the 100 (56.36) and 200 backstroke (2:01.22).

Also tallying event wins were sophomore Lauren Hall (400 IM, 4:20.40), sophomore Emily Bibb (500 free, 4:58.85) and freshman Jennifer Lamb (1000 free, 10:09.85).

The 400 freestyle relay team of sophomore Alex Sullivan, Bibb, Hall and Poteete set a new meet record against Oregon State with their time of 3:28.57.

The Bruins are now 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in Pac-10 action. Oregon State falls to 1-2 and 0-2 in Pac-10 competition. UCSB is now 2-1 on the year.
