Five-Star Katie Johnson Heading to the Midwest

GOLDEN, Colorado, November 5. KATIE Johnson, a Swimming World five-star prospect who swims for North Jeffco and preps at Ralston Valley High, has made up her mind on where she's going to college.

Johnson, who owns U.S. Olympic Trials cuts in the 200-meter breast (2:33.26) and 400-meter IM (4:55.42), will be calling Minnesota home for the next four years.

"I have verbally committed to the University of Minnesota," Johnson told Swimming World. "I think their team will be a great fit for me. The girls seem really fun, and Coach Kremer and I are already developing a good relationship. If there is a place I can excel in the water, it will be with this team. I am looking forward to training with the level of breaststrokers this team has, and can't wait to begin my college career!"

Johnson joins what is becoming a pretty stacked class in the Twin Cities. Fellow five-star prospects Paige Bradley, Haley Spencer and three-star Abbey Staats have already made their Minnesota pledges public.

Johnson was previously featured in the College Recruit Rankings Profile series.
