Calvin vs. Grand Valley State

ALLENDALE, Michigan, October 31. BOTH the men's and women's swim teams from Grand Valley State cruised to convincing wins over Calvin Friday night, winning every event but one. The men won by a final score of 189-88, while the women claimed a 170.5-118.5 victory.

On the men's side, the Lakers won all 16 events. Matt Witkowski led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.79 and a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 free (46.73), while Jeremy Sall also led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 back with a winning time of 52.91. David Hayhow led a sweep in the 1000 free (10:04.32), Phil Watkins won the 200 fly (2:02.12) and Ryan Gerger led a sweep in the 50 free (22.53). Evan Betts recorded the top two scores on both the 1-meter (302.00) and 3-meter (306.55) boards. Collin Perry led the sweep in the 200 breast (2;20.48) and Jeff Pauza finished first (4:49.74) in a sweep of the 500 free. The Lakers finished the night by competing in several events as an exhibition.

For the women, Danielle Buglio led a Laker sweep in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.99, while Carly Bush won the 1000 free (10:50.26). Erin Kinney touched first in the 200 free (1:57.22), Lauren Dorsey won the 100 back (1:08.48) and Jenna Thayer led a sweep in the 200 fly (2:09.28). Kim Baughman won the 50 free (24.73) and Kaitlin Myszkowski touched first in the 100 free (55.40). Jordan Appleyard led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 back (2:12.94), Toni Musto won the 200 breast (2:25.22) and Erin Kinney claimed a first-place finish in the 500 free (5:16.36).
