Five-Star Recruit Laura Sogar Pledges College

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, November 1. SWIMMING World five-star recruit Laura Sogar, has made her college destination public.

Sogar, who would have scored points in the B final of the 100-yard breast (1:01.46) at the NCAA Division I Championships, should make an immediate impact on the collegiate ranks, and she will do so under Kim Brackin's tutelage at Texas.

Sogar also would have qualified for the 200-yard breast at last year's NCAAs with a 2:13.87, while also posting four U.S. Olympic Trials cuts in the 100-meter breast (1:09.37), 200-meter breast (2:26.41), 200-meter IM (2:18.48) and 400-meter IM (4:52.66).

"I found Texas to be the best fit for me because they are known for both athletic and academic excellence," Sogar told Swimming World. "The team was a very tight knit group of girls and I loved the coaches, Kim and Jim. Texas is a team to watch in the future, and I can't wait to be a part of that!"

Sogar joins an ever-deepening standout class for the Longhorns. Six-star Spindrift Beck and five-star Jessica Guro have already committed to Texas, while a few more top-line breaststrokers are rumored to be nearly ready to make their Texas commitments public.
