William Smith Hires Kirsten Burrall as Assistant Coach

GENEVA, New York, October 30. WILLIAM Smith College Director of Athletics Deb Steward recently announced the appointment of Kirsten Burrall to serve as an assistant coach for the Heron swimming and diving team.

"We are extremely happy to have Kirsten join the Herons," William Smith Swimming and Diving Head Coach Kelly Kisner said. "Her knowledge of the sport and passion for teaching make her an excellent addition to our staff."

As a student at Hartwick College, Burrall competed for the Hawks' swimming team and was an NCAA Championship qualifier. She graduated in 1991 with a bachelor's degree with honors in fine arts. Burrall is currently pursuing a master's degree in education from Elmira College.

A life-long swimmer, Burrall has remained active in athletics, participating in the Finger Lakes Triathlon and volunteering with the Musselman Triathlon.

Burrall brings a broad spectrum of coaching and teaching experience to William Smith. She has taught art, health, kayaking, and Spanish as well as providing private swim lessons over the years. She taught AP Art History at Notre Dame High School in Elmira for five years while simultaneously launching her own business, Terrapin Outfitters, in Watkins Glen.

In addition to working with the Herons, Burrall is also a member of the faculty at the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy in Geneva.
