NCAA Div. I: Texas, Arizona Top Pre-Season College Polls

OCTOBER 26. THE University of Texas men's team and the University of Arizona women's team top the national rankings in the pre-season 2000-01 Speedo America poll conducted by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The poll was released Thursday morning by the CSCAA.

The Texas Longhorns are the defending men's champions while the Arizona Wildcats finished second at last season's women's championships.

Auburn, second last year among the men, occupies the number two spot in this year's pre-season poll. Georgia, which won the last two women's titles but lost seniors Kristy Kowal and Courtney Shealy–co-winners of the Outstanding Swimmer of the Year award last season–dropped to fourth.
