European Junior Championships: Second Day Complete

BELGRADE, Serbia, July 31. THE second day of swimming came to a close at the European Junior Championships held in Belgrade.

Poland's Mirela Olczak led off the final session with a win in the girls 15-16 200 fly in 2:11.50. Italy's Silvia Meschiari took second in 2:12.65, while Poland's Alicja Tchorz finished third in 2:13.28.

Christopher Walker-Hebborn of Great Britain followed with a win in the boys 17-18 100 back in 55.44. Russians Artem Dubovskoy and Vitaly Borisov took second and third in 55.58 and 56.07.

Jolien Sysmans of Belgium touched first in the girls 15-16 100 free with a 56.00, just beating Italy's Silvia Di Pietro (56.17) and Russia's Viktoriya Andreeva (56.20).

Germany's Marco Koch cruised in the boys 17-18 200 breast with a time of 2:12.25. Russians Artem Babikhin (2:14.89) and Maxim Shcherbakov (2:15.36) provided his closest competition.

Kseniya Grygorenko of Ukraine posted a 2:13.32 to win the girls 15-16 200 back, while Italy's Valentina Lucconi finished second in 2:14.16 and Poland's Klaudia Nazieblo touched out teammate Karolina Urbanska, 2:14.83 to 2:14.86, for third.

Great Britain's Anne Bochmann won a nailbiter over Netherlands' Sharon van Rouwendall, 4:12.51 to 4:12.53, in the girls 15-16 400 free, while France's Fabre Margaux placed third in 4:12.60.

France's Camille Radou, Margaux, Marie Sophie Castelle and Elodie Schmitt rounded out the day with a winning time of 3:45.75 in the girls 15-16 400 freestyle relay.
