Italian Championships: Elena Gemo Lowers Italian Record in 50 Back

TREVISO, Italy, July 18. ELENA Gemo broke her Italian record in the women's 50 back at the Italian Championships held in Treviso. Gemo clocked a time of 28.91, beating her former record of 29.18 set back in 2006.

Meanwhile, Mirco Di Tora won the men's 50 back with a time of 26.26. Francesco Vespe opened the night with a time of 3:50.41, touching out Federico Colbertaldo (3:50.54), in the men's 400 free.

In another close call, Francesca Segat beat out Italian-record holder Ambra Migliori, 1:00.39 to 1:00.51, in the women's 100 fly. Mattia Pesce followed with a winning time of 1:01.93 in the men's 100 breast.

World-record holder Federica Pellegrini cruised in the women's 400 free with a winning readout of 4:09.44, while Federico Bocchia walked away with the men's 50 free title in 22.75.

In relay action, Alessia Filippi, Ginevra Ferronetti, Silvia Di Pietro and Cristina Chiuso won the women's 400 medley in 4:09.67. Sebastiano Ranfagni, Michele Vancini, Mattia Nalesso and Alessandro Calvi claimed the men's 400 medley in 3:40.95.
